The term BLACK MOLD has become a term that people use every day. There are thousands of different species of mold and many of them can be black or dark in color. That does not always mean it is toxic mold. Often the color of the mold growth depends on what the mold is eating. Drywall for example is one of the most common food sources for mold. In most situations the mold on drywall is dark in color. (See pictures)
The only way to know with certainty what type of mold growth you have is to do a mold air test and/or mold swab test. We then send the samples to an independent laboratory for analysis. A report is generated with the results. If the report indicates there is an issue with the air quality, a plan of action to remove the mold and make the area safe will be provided.
